National Film Board favourites are "Rain, Drizzle and Fog", about her hometown of St. John’s, invited to TIFF and screening on the Documentary Channel, and "Salvation", about the homeless in Toronto, nominated for the Donald Brittain Award and a popular download at nfb.ca.
In 2004 House wrote, directed and produced the film "Bloomsday Cabaret", about music in the work of the Irish writer James Joyce. The film was nominated for a Gemini for best direction and screens on BRAVO in Canada, RTE in Ireland and ABC in Australia.
House's 2007 doc, also for BRAVO, is "Christopher House: Ahead of the Curve" about the celebrated artistic director of Toronto Dance Theatre (and her brother). John Doyle wrote in the Toronto Globe “If you’ve ever wondered about the point of dance, the answer is here”. The film received 2 Gemini nods, for direction and editing (Nico Stagias).
The feature film project "The Ballad of Maura MacKenzie", written and co-produced by House with Judy Holm and Michael McNamara of Markham Street Films (Victoria Day) is adapted from Joan Clark's award winning novel, An Audience of Chairs. Molly Parker will direct the film in her directorial debut. Production is anticipated for the fall of 2012.
"Hold Fast", produced and written by House, directed by Justin Simms (Down to the Dirt) and adapted from Kevin Major's seminal Newfoundland novel is in packaging with Telefilm and the Greenberg Fund with production scheduled for May 2012 on the west coast of Newfoundland.
"Auntie Vigilantes", about two aunts determined to wreak revenge on the cad who has jilted their beloved niece, is in development as a feature comedy.
"Safe Home" a short film for the Canada Council for the Arts is going into production in Dublin the first two weeks of May 2011. The film, a meditation on the journeys we take in life, both physical and metaphysical, is shot by John O'Donnell and produced with Marie Stamp.
"If We're Lucky (We Grow Old)" is a short-form documentary at the investigate stage with the NFB, Annette Clarke producer.
Rock Island produces the networking site 48th Parallel Project, for women (and men!) who dare to call themselves feminists.
